Clear2Pay launches PocketBanking solution at Sibos
Mobile channel to banking and payments launched on iPhone platform
Brussels/Hong Kong, 14 September 2009 – Clear2Pay, the international technology provider of next generation payment and e-banking solutions for financial institutions announces today the availability of a full PocketBanking suite of solutions, based on its OPF platform and connecting to its eBanking suite of products. An integrated demo of the mobile “On Board” banking solution based on an iPhone applet is being showcased at booth 1-D18 at Sibos, Hong Kong.
After the advent of Internet, which allowed customers to do banking transactions ‘anytime’, the emergence of mobile and wireless technology has added the mobility ‘anywhere’ component. This technology wave enables customers to access their bank account, obtain information and execute transactions on a range of functionally rich hand held devices. The proliferation of smart phones and mobile devices across the world and the availability of substantially more bandwidth have only sparked this development. In May 2009 TowerGroup* research indicated that the US mobile banking market alone will grow from 10 million active users in 2009 to over 53 million by 2013, representing a compound annual growth of 51,8%. In emerging markets such as China and Africa we can expect to see even higher adoption rates are expected.
The 100% mobile Clear2Pay PocketBanking solution will be launched at Sibos on the Apple iPhone, but will be available on all smart phones. PocketBanking can be set up via SMS transactions, mobile internet transactions (on a mobile device through internet web site), or transactions via Mobile ‘On-Board’ banking enabled application, whereby customers do not need to go on the internet but connect through an applet on the mobile device with embedded security. DIGIPASS® for Mobile from VASCO Data Security is embedded in the Mobile “On Board” Banking product, which guarantees banking institutions and end users the first strong authentication solution for mobile devices using time and event-based response. All normal banking services are available: Mini statements, Account history (Check and search), Internal and third party transfers.
Mark Hartley, VP Global Strategy and CMO comments: “Even the current economic crisis does not seem to curb the appetite for mobile banking, on the contrary, in a time when consumers and businesses need to monitor their expenses and cash flow, instant information and transaction capability are key. We are also very active on the African continent and we find that in those countries, the mobile phone is often the entry point for unbanked customers.”
