New ePayments Solution for Asia Pacific

Sydney, June 2002 - The Australian-based company, Sienna Technologies, (part of Clear2Pay) has launched a new electronic payments solution, enabling banks to securely receive and validate payments of any size, in any format.

Although Sienna's newest ePayments solution is publicly released today, the company has been demonstrating it, under non-disclosure, to several banks and financial institutions throughout Asia Pacific, and reports that interest has been very high.

In fact, Sienna is in final negotiations with several major financial service organizations both here in Australia and in Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand.

The Sienna ePayments solution includes:

  • Complete automation of payments processing
  • Online balance checks
  • Option to warehouse payments for later processing
  • Validation and limit checks on all payments

According to Nigel Holman, Sienna's Chief Executive Officer, the ePayments solution is set apart by the combination of ease-of-use, the inherent security features, reliability and the flexibility of configuration.

"Major banks and financial service organizations have chosen us to handle the receipt and delivery of critical payment files and the value of such transactions runs into billions of dollars every day," said Holman

For almost fourteen years, Sienna has specialized in providing electronic delivery and payment solutions to leading banks, clearing houses, healthcare and insurance organizations and today, the company's blue chip client list includes some of the largest banks and financial institutions in the Asia Pacific region.

Currently, more than 8,000 billers accept BPAY payments. In a typical month, Australians use BPAY to pay over 7.5 million bills with a value of more than $3 billion. Of these transactions, 53 per cent are processed through Internet banking services. Approximately 2.8 million Australians are registered Internet banking customers.
