Introduction

Clear2Pay Belgium nv/sa has built a specific software package “CBK” designed for processing of disputed transactions in the credit/debit MasterCard/Visa card business. The CBK package is a back-office and database application combining Financial Processing (accounting functions), CRM (customer relationship management functions) and the specific MasterCard & Visa Clearing Rules Management (processing of litigations between the card Issuers and the transaction Acquirers).

CBK software package is a “niche software product” marketed worldwide. Clear2Pay Belgium has a leading position on this market since more than 15 years.

The most recent version of a package “CBK V3.0 Issuer Version” has been fully developed in Java technologies. The ongoing new developments for the next release CBK V3.1 and for the product re-factoring are focused on the complementary Acquirer processing. The previous version of the package called “CBK V2.5” has been developed while using GUPTA GUI and C/C++ technologies.

Both versions are fully supported by Clear2Pay Belgium and are being delivered to different market segments: banks, card processing centres and merchants in 17 countries.

“CBK” package is being updated every 6 months due to the changing Visa & MasterCard operational regulations. In addition Clear2Pay Belgium develops on a regular basis new functionalities and integrates the application within the customer’s local host systems. In addition the package is updated on a regular basis to incorporate new IT technologies.

The CBK Business Unit team of 25, based in Brussels, is responsible for a continuous development and support of CBK package to all its customers on a worldwide basis. The team is a part of more than 250 staff members of Clear2Pay organisation in Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, USA, Spain and UK. The growing expectations of our customers for new services and for new functionality of our package require the evolution and growth of our organisation within the team, which gives interesting opportunities to all members.

Scope of work

Major responsibilities:

  • analysis and internal management of Visa and MasterCard new functional / operational requirements
  • analysis of Bi-annual updates of Visa/MasterCard requirements
  • defining the software configuration procedures
  • Release Notes edition and delivery
  • analysis of customer business and interface requirements, workshop management, change request management, reporting and follow-up of the corresponding product implementations
  • analysis of RFI/RFP documents and response preparations
  • edition of functional documentation in the form ready for the software development process
  • reception and evaluation of internal CBK product deliveries from the Development and Testing Departments (participation in testing process aiming the internal reception of new functionality)-
  • management of CBK package parameter configurations as defined for the individual major account customers (management of configuration tables, management of configuration scripts per customer)

The work objectives are to be fulfilled in a progressive way in parallel to the acquired skills during the internal training sessions.

Position within CBK activity

  • “supplier” of functional requirements to the CBK Development team,
  • “customer” of the CBK Development and Testing teams at the time of verification of final results after test trails
  • “supplier” to CBK Consultants and to CBK Customers
  • reports to CBK Product Manager
  • expected progress:
    - initially participation in multiple different tasks such as package implementations for new customers, functional support to the existing customers, package testing, studying the Credit Card business requirements, package documentation tasks
    - participation in the functional workshops with CBK customers
    - participation in the analysis process of RFI/RFP requests
    - being responsible for the full CBK Product Management (selection of functionalities and defining the implementation procedures)

Skills needed/appreciated

  • preferably having an engineering background (diploma)
  • abstraction and modeling skills
  • ability to understand and defend software and system architecture (2 tiers / 3 tiers)
  • interested, skilled and/or experienced in business analysis (data flow, database management, interfacing, CRM applications, system configurations)
  • skilled in interpersonal communications, team leading skills will be appreciated
  • speaking and writing fluently English, able to write well structured and concise specifications documents
  • speaking French
  • rigorous and pragmatic
  • experience in script building, SQL database technologies, and in general in IT technologies will be highly appreciated

Other requirements

  • ready for short travels from time to time (not more than 1 travel /month (for 2-3 days in average)
  • open to accept management positions in the near future
  • customer service & problem solving oriented

  • specializing in Visa and MasterCard “business analysis” for chargeback and clearing processing the candidate will target to be a recognized expert which should allow him to be involved in high level business development and project implementations.
  • finally become a Member of CBK Business Unit Management Team
