Software Engineer (M/F)

Position Summary

At the moment we are looking for a full time Software Engineer for our team in Amsterdam. Working with the team lead, the Software Engineer is responsible of the implementation of Clear2Pay’s products into our customer’s production environments. This involves collaboration with the designers, QA team and the functional analysts in order to deliver the solution according to the specifications.

The technologies and methodologies used are among others: object oriented design and development, UML, Java, J2EE, Java Servlets, Enterprise Java Beans, XML, XSLT, MQ Series, Application Servers (a.o. WebSphere, JBOSS), Databases (a.o. Oracle, MS SQL Server en MySQL), Eclipse, Spring and Hibernate.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and development of our products and projects based on specifications made by our team of analysts;
• Hands on code development for customizations, extensions and interfaces to software;
• Develop parts of the product framework according to the company's development methodology;
• Perform unit-testing and tuning on the parts you have developed, in cooperation with the QA department;
• Document the framework according to the company's standards (JavaDoc, UML, etc.);
• Implement installation and deployment procedures;
• Maintain knowledge transfer through Wiki and other mechanisms;
• Deployment of the application at customer site.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications

Education
Requires a Bachelor in Computer Science (HBO) or related field or equivalent technical/years of experience.

Experience

• Successfully delivered and software implementations in a production environment;
• Experience with transaction based/end to end systems development primarily focused in the financial services industry;
• Experience in technical designs, involving data modeling, UML and J2EE design patterns;
• Preferably experience (2 years+) in developing J2EE 1.3 based applications: good knowledge of JDK, Servlets, EJB 2.0, JMS, JDBC, JNDI, etc;
• Knowledge of open source tools/techniques, like Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Tomcat, Velocity, Maven;
• Knowledge of XML/XSLT related techniques;
• Knowledge of application integration (legacy, middleware);
• Preferably knowledge of 1 or more application and/or web servers (Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, JBOSS e.a.);
• Experience in unit-testing (JUnit) & stress-testing of J2EE applications;
• Knowledge of database systems (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL);
• You have experience with working according to quality standards. Knowledge of standards in this area is an advantage.

Other Required Skills and Abilities

• Enthusiastic personality and eager to learn;
• Thorough knowledge of English and Dutch required;
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to understand and communicate technical information;
• Must have the ability to work independently, as well as work as a team player.

Desired Skills and Abilities

• Financial services experience and payments knowledge specifically;
• Knowledge of BPEL Workflow Engines and MQ Series;
• Knowledge of designing and building applications using a service oriented architecture;
• Knowledge of Oracle 9i and 10g series databases;
• Knowledge of Web Services;
• Knowledge of Hibernate;
• Knowledge of IBM WebSphere Application Server.
