Senior Business Analyst – Payments (M/F)

Position Summary

Under direction from the Project or Product Managers, the Senior Business Analyst will gather, define and document business requirements, write use cases and functional specifications, create user interface specifications, and build user interface prototypes. The artifacts produced by the Senior Business Analyst will be used by the engineering and QA teams in order to build and test the functionality of products built upon the Bank Payment Hub. The Senior Business Analyst assumes ownership of their deliverables and is accountable for the on-time production of his/her work according to the program methodology. The Senior Business Analyst is a high-visibility, customer facing, demanding position that directly impacts the quality and success of our products.

Primary Responsibilities: (85% of the time)

  • Work with the customer to understand their detailed requirements (this work will be done at the customer's site)
  • Map those requirements to the features of Clear2Pay's Product (The Bank Payment Hub), identifying any "gaps" between requirements and features
  • "Steer" the customer's requirements into directions that minimize or eliminate gaps
  • Document gaps in summary, and then, when funding for the closure of those gaps has been secured, produce detailed documents (use case, UI mock Ups...) for the C2P development team to close the gaps.
  • Present the detailed document to the customer for approval, and then to the C2P development team for development
  • Work with the C2P development team to answer any questions that come up during the development cycle
  • Work with the C2P QA team to oversee the writing and execution of test scripts to assure that the gaps were closed, and that the enhanced product works as specified
  • Work with the customer's test team during their Acceptance test cycle making sure our product and their changes perform as documented. (This work will be done at the customer' site).

Secondary Responsibilities: (15% of the time)

  • Call with our sales team when opportunities have advanced to the stage where an "expert" is needed (travel required)
  • Attend trade shows with our team to speak as an expert on our product's features (travel required)
  • Travel to Brussels, Belgium or Sydney, Australia to attend product management strategy meetings, representing our C2P Americas needs. (travel required)

Other General Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate customer and internal meetings to solicit requirements, coordinate stakeholders and drive the processes that are needed to produce his/her deliverables.
  • Write business requirements, use cases, user interface specifications and other supporting project materials (internal communications, beta test plans, etc.)
  • Work with Project/Product Management to understand priorities, enhancement requests, defects and to resolve issues.
  • Provide status reports to Project and Product Managers.
  • Works with the Project Manager to define iteration criteria and to produce project deliverables.
  • Contributes to the establishment of standards and procedures for use case and product development materials.
  • Recommends program improvements or revisions to programmers and system analysts.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the cash management space, with emphasis on international payments. They will be knowledgeable of SWIFT, ISO, FED WIRE, NACHA, IISI, and non-US format standards for payment processing and implementation of systems to support such processing with a financial institution. CTP/CCM and/or AAP credentials preferred.
The candidate will have a successful track record and hands-on experience creating highly detailed functional analysis deliverables. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be expected to have expert ability in eliciting, documenting and evaluating business requirements which involve multiple organizations, complex financial calculations and technical topics.
In a perfect situation, the candidate will have a combination of experience at a bank and technology company.

  • They will have worked in the Cash Management/International Payments and/or Retail Payment systems or Product Management groups at a large US bank (top 20)
  • They will also have experience in a hardware or software company selling products into the Cash Management and International Payment areas of top banks.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Cash Management, payment processing, international payment processing is a must.
  • A minimum of three years performing business or systems analysis is required.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university with strong academic performance in business or technology is required.
  • Experience working in financial institutions or for an application service provider (ASP) is highly preferred.
  • Other Required Skills and Abilities
    • Hands-on experience performing functional analysis, creating use cases, logical data models and business process diagrams.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience making presentations to clients, managers, executives and/or technical staff is required.

      o Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to understand and communicate business requirements and product functionality.
      o Must have experience working with and in front of customers (a consulting background would be advantageous).
    • Demonstrated ability to elicit information and resolve ambiguities when requirements are unclear or insufficient.
    • Successful professional track record combined with experience working in high pressure, demanding environments.
    • Demonstrated ability to work under strict deadlines and short turnaround timeframes.
    • Exceptional teamwork skills in leading and collaborating with others.
    • Requires experience with MS Office, specifically in Word and Excel.
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Desired Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of development methodologies such as RUP, Agile or other iterative processes is preferred
    • Prior technical experience with Payment processing software is a significant plus (for example: Intranet, BESS, MTS)
