Position Summary
Working with a Project Manager, the Technical Architect is the technical representative for Clear2Pay to one or several customers at a time. This individual will own the technical direction and success of the implementation of Clear2Pay’s products into our customer’s production environments. This involves extensive collaboration with the customer’s technical resources and other Clear2Pay resources to create the solution that best meets the customer’s needs by factoring in not only technical requirements, but business requirements, cost, and time-to-market concerns.
You will be the decision maker where it comes to technical and architectural challenges in our product deliveries. You act as a role model, coach and mentor for the local technical analysts. You are continuously developing your expertise in main technical domains and propose the application of new technologies in our project deliveries. You will also engage the test department and support them with functional and technical knowledge on the specific customer deliveries.

Essential Responsibilities
- Act as a primary technical interface to the customer for system design and integration;
- Work with the project manager and the customer to understand all project requirements (in the form of a use case or other communication);
- Work with the project manager to assign priorities and manage bugs against release criteria to release the software on schedule;
- Support the Sales team during technical discussions by leading discussions and presenting information about the design and development of the Clear2Pay applications;
- Make project design decisions based on project requirements and produce detailed designs using Clear2Pay and/or customer standards;
- Coordinate development tasks among other developers on a project;
- Hands on code development for customizations, extensions and interfaces to software where required;
- Document the customizations to the core Clear2Pay applications;
- Work with Quality Assurance to ensure complete test coverage of customizations to the core Clear2Pay applications;
- Maintain knowledge transfer through Wiki and other mechanisms;
- Mentor and train junior members of the Clear2Pay development staff;
- Perform code reviews for peers on the Clear2Pay development staff;
- Provide input to the refinement and evolution of the Clear2Pay software platform.
Travel
Since our customers are not only situated in the Benelux, travel within (but not always limited to) Europe might be a required element of this position.
Education, Experience and Other Qualifications
Education
Requires a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university or equivalent technical/years of experience.
Experience
- Successfully delivered and supported software implementations in a production environment;
- Experience with transaction based/end to end systems development primarily focused in the financial services industry;
- Achieved success in a consulting-like environment;
- Requires participation in multiple project lifecycles from inception to transition;
- Requires 5+ years experience in J2EE application development;
- Requires 3+ years experience with IBM WebSphere application server;
- Requires experience building J2EE web applications from the ground up using proper MVC patterns;
- Requires in-depth knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture, components architecture, J2EE security solutions;
- Requires experience interfacing with external systems through messaging mechanisms such as JMS or Web Services;
- Requires a strong knowledge of database concepts and technologies, including a fundamental understanding of SQL and the ability to interface with database systems through code (i.e. JDBC);
- Requires experience using the JUnit testing framework and ability to produce adequate test coverage for all code written;
- Requires experience producing analysis and design artifacts using industry standard tools;
- Requires experience using version control systems (Subversion is a plus);
- Requires experience using build systems, like Maven and CruiseControl;
- Requires experience using fundamental HTML and Javascript;
- Requires experience with XML-related technologies;
- Financial services experience is required and payments knowledge specifically is desired.

- Experience with BPEL Workflow Engines and MQ Series;
- Experience designing and building applications using a service oriented architecture;
- Experience with Oracle 9i and 10g series databases;
- Experience with Web Services;
- Experience with Hibernate 2 or 3;
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server 5.1;
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Developer (WSAD) 5.1;
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Process Server 6.0;
- Experience with Java security;
- Experience with Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) architecture products.
